April Newsletter

Greetings,

“Is spring ever going to get here?” is about all I hear around BCS these days. Now that we have experienced the spiritual rebirth of Easter, we are all anxious to see a rebirth of green in our surrounding landscape. It occupies our thoughts, conversations, and daydreams. We want warmer weather, sunny days, and to wear our lighter spring clothing. We are ready to move on to spring and leave winter behind us.

Imagine if we had that same anxious drive and that preoccupation with Jesus and His coming? Do we give His coming any thought during a regular day? If we did, we would be preparing for Him. We would stop making excuses for cutting short our prayer and devotion time (or for not being in the word on a daily basis at all). We would love a little more, and show a bit more compassion, share more with others, and be a servant more frequently. In short, wait expectantly on the Lord. This calls for us to trust He is coming and to prepare for Him. Spring will come and so will the Lord.

Street Lamp Production’s scenes from Peter Pan on March 17th was a great show. Our students were true professionals and continued with their performances through some technical difficulties. All of the students who participated had a great time ad learned a lot. They only practiced a total of 8 hours! Thank you, Laura Woods, Lisa Patrick and Stephanie Smith for bringing musical theater to BCS!

Our Fine Arts Gala and Open House will be held on April 20th from 6-8pm at BCS. Please come and see some wonderful musical performances from our 3rd grade recorder class, our BCS/Sacred Heart Combined Band, and our private music lesson students. Plan to take a tour of our school and visit each classroom. Art students will have a gallery showing and be performing live art in the hallways. It will be a wonderful night celebrating BCS and God’s blessings! We will have refreshments provided by McCormick Orthodontics! Thank you, Drs. Chela and Davé.

The 8th grade Fundraising Dinner will be held on Wednesday, May 2. We will have two seatings, 5:00 and 6:30pm. The menu will be baked potatoes and all of the fixings (chili, cheese, butter, sour cream, bacon, broccoli, etc.), salad, bread, and dessert. Come hungry because it is all-you-can-eat! Cost is $6 per person. All proceeds and tips go to fund the 8th grade’s trip to Washington, D.C. While in D.C., they will visit the Spy Museum and the Memorials. Please come out and support the class and help them reach their goal!

The Silent Auction Preview will be on Thursday, May 17th from 5-8pm. The Silent Auction will be open for bids and browsing and Buzz Tyson will have his delicious, famous chicken dinners available for purchase (we have tickets on sale now for the chicken dinner! Tickets cost $10.). Please see Pam Leathers to purchase tickets to reserve your chicken!

The Official Race Day and Silent Auction is coming up on Friday, May 18th. We need some help with our local business donations. Please contact Kelly Cudicio at kcudicio@bethanychristian.org if you can help. On Race Day, the Silent Auction will be open from 9-noon, we will have a live auction for the Class Baskets, and McCormick Orthodontics will sponsor a fun Ice Cream Social after the Race Awards are over.

Did you know that BCS has Summer Camp all summer long? Camp is open to the public and will begin on Tuesday, June 12th and runs through August 24th, except July 4th week. Each week has a theme and a scripture memory verse and is jam-packed with crafts, water games, activities, and fun. Slots are filling up quickly! Summer Camp is open to BCS students and NON-BCS students from 4 years old through entering 5th grade.  Find out more information about Summer Camp on our website (www.bethanychristian.org)

Thank you for all of your prayers and support. Please pray for God’s blessing on the rest of our school year and on our Race for Education.
