November Newsletter

Greetings,

God is so good! We had our Annual Fundraising Banquet on October 19th and it was a wonderful night of delicious food, connecting with old and new friends, and celebrating BCS! It was a special night because we named and dedicated our newly renovated gym the Kitty June Shepherd Gymnasium, in recognition of her contributions to BCS over the last 30+ years. Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd were instrumental in establishing BCS and remained faithful volunteers and supporters. Their model of humility and selfless service is to be admired and emulated. It is evident that they “do all things through Christ, who gives them strength!”

We glorify our heavenly Father for the funds we raised. The total was just under $60,000, including table sponsorships from our local businesses. Our sponsors are listed on our website and Facebook page. If you need their type of services, please consider them first. Praise God for His provision!

GRANDPARENTS DAY

Grandparents Day was a great success! The grandparents had their fill of donuts, students performed for them, and then they spent time in the classrooms. We love having them here and I think they love being here!

PRESCHOOL DONUTS WITH DADS

On Wednesday, November 7th, we have invited all of our preschool Dads to come to school. We will have donuts and an indoor playground and picnic. The Dads will get to experience the joy of preschool and have some fun with their kiddos.

THANKSGIVING FOOD DRIVE

From 10/24 through 11/13 we are collecting Thanksgiving food to be donated to Neighborhood Services in Oxford. Each grade is assigned a food and we are competing boys vs. girls. If you would like to donate, please write a B or a G on the top of the can. We are collecting canned soup, packets of or jarred gravy, canned vegetables, rice, and pasta. Help us bless those in our community!

USBORNE BOOK FAIR

We will host an Usborne book fair on November 19-20. Stop in after dismissal at 12:30 on those days to pick up some great books!

SERVEDAY THURSDAY

Please join us on Thursday, November 29th in the Art Room to make ornaments for the tree in the triangle in town. We have decorated this tree for the past 3 years. We will light and decorate the tree on December 7th as part of the First Friday Country Christmas celebration in Oxford.

LIVE NATIVITY

On Thursday, December 6th, the BCS Middle School will be performing at Live Nativity at the church. The evening will begin at 6:30 with an outside live nativity and then at 7:00 we will move inside for the program of scripture reading, singing, and acting. The evening will end in the church basement with goodies, cider, and hot chocolate. Please come, invite your friends and family to get into the CHRISTmas spirit.

GIANT/MARTINS SCHOOL REWARDS, SCRIP, BOX TOPS, and AMAZON SMILE

If you are a Giant/Martins shopper, please link your Bonus Card to BCS through A+ School rewards. A portion of your purchases can be converted to CASH for BCS!!  We also still have Scrip, a fundraising program where you can purchase gift cards for where you normally shop, and BCS gets a percentage from the sale of the gift cards. We collect Box Tops! Please clip them and bring them to church. We will get them to the school. Each box top is worth $0.10! If you are an Amazon shopper, please use smile.Amazon.com instead (it is the same website with the same products) and designate Bethany Christian School, Inc. as your nonprofit.
