Learning Support Services
At Bethany Christian School, we recognize that students learn in different ways and bring unique strengths and challenges to the classroom. Our instructional approach incorporates varied teaching methods, individualized attention, and specialized programs to support diverse learning styles and academic needs.
Individualized Learning Support
Mrs. Karen Brenneman, our Learning Support Teacher, provides academic support for students who have a documented IEP, 504 Plan, or who are recommended by a classroom teacher for additional assistance.
Support may include:
Math and Reading intervention
Study strategies
Organizational skills development
Students may receive short-term or ongoing weekly support throughout the school year. Mrs. Brenneman collaborates closely with classroom teachers and specialists from the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) to ensure coordinated care. Some students may receive BCS learning support services without qualifying for CCIU services.
An additional Learning Support fee applies to students receiving BCS support services. Fees will be determined based on the level of support and intervention required.
Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) Services
Through our partnership with the CCIU, eligible students may receive on-site specialized services, including:
Speech Therapy
Occupational Therapy

Assistive Technology Services
Classroom teachers may recommend a referral if a student would benefit from these services.
Requesting an Evaluation
Families may request:
An evaluation through the CCIU (PA families only), or
Additional support services through BCS
For more comprehensive assessments, parents may also request a psycho-educational evaluation through their local public school district. Our school office is available to assist families in navigating this process.
Contact the Main Office for more information or to begin a referral.
Small Class Sizes & Classroom Support
Small class sizes are a key part of our learning support model. The average BCS class includes approximately 17 students, allowing teachers to provide individualized attention and adapt instruction to each child’s learning style.
Classroom Aides serve in:
Preschool
Kindergarten
Third Grade
Additional Elementary and Middle School settings
Aides support classroom instruction and help ensure each student receives the attention and encouragement needed to succeed.
