Summer Reading & Math

  • Reading:

    • Students read at least 15 books to parents. 

    • Log the list on a piece of paper.

    Math:

    • Practice addition and subtractions facts 0-5

    • Practice counting 0-50

    • Practice counting by 5s and 10s to 100

  • Reading:

    • Students are required to read 15 books to parents (5 books per month).

    • Log on a piece of paper for tracking and return the first day of school.

    Math:

    • Practice addition and subtraction facts 1-10

    • counting forward and backward from 1-100

    • skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s

  • Reading:

    Box Car Children Book No. 1 by Gertrude Chandler Werner

    Math:

    • Addition and subtraction facts 1-20

    • Skip counting by 2-10

    • Practice of addition/subtraction with regrouping.

  • Reading:

    • The Cricket in Times Square  by George Selden
      We will complete several activities for this book the first few weeks of school.

    • Read as many books as you can for fun this summer and keep a list to bring on the first day of school for a sweet treat!

    Math:

    • Addition and subtractions facts 1-20

    • Multiplication facts to 12.
      There will be fact tests the first week of school.

    • Practice 4-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping and subtracting with zeros.

  • Reading:

    The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis

    Math:

    • Adding and subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers

    • Multiplication and division facts to 12

    • Multiplying and dividing 2 digit numbers
