Middle School English Literature (ELA) Teacher

Position Summary

The Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher provides engaging, standards-based instruction that develops students’ reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language skills. This position fosters a positive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, effective communication, and a lifelong appreciation for literature and literacy.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality English Language Arts instruction. Teach grammar, usage, mechanics, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, and vocabulary development. Instruct students in reading comprehension using a variety of literary and informational texts. Teach novels, short stories, poetry, drama, and nonfiction while encouraging literary analysis and thoughtful discussion.Guide students through the writing process, including narrative, informative, argumentative, and research writing. Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and provide timely, constructive feedback. Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress.Create a safe, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom environment that promotes positive behavior and a love of learning. Communicate effectively with parents, administrators, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom expectations. Collaborate with faculty in curriculum planning, professional learning, and school improvement initiatives. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other school activities as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Pennsylvania Teaching Certification preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of middle school curriculum and instructional best practices. Ability to pass all required background clearances. Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills. Part Time CustodianPay: $11.00–$15.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Part-Time late afternoon/ evening Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the school facilities after school hours. This role includes routine custodial duties, light maintenance tasks, and ensuring the building is clean, safe, and ready for the next school day.

Key Responsibilities

Sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, and maintain assigned areas. Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, and common areas. Empty trash receptacles and replace liners. Restock cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when inventory is low. Perform light maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs and completing minor repairs. Follow established cleaning schedules and complete assigned tasks efficiently. Operate cleaning equipment safely and properly. Follow all safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming Christian school environment.

Qualifications

Previous custodial, commercial, or industrial cleaning experience preferred. Knowledge of proper cleaning methods and equipment. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift supplies or equipment as needed. Excellent time management skills. Bus Driver

BCS is hiring one or more bus drivers for the upcoming school year. Training costs are covered by the school.

Openings include:

  • Maryland route (approximately 3 hours per school day)

  • Field trips and athletic events (hours vary)

Drivers are BCS employees, receive hourly pay, and may be eligible for tuition discounts.

Requirements:

  • Valid CDL

  • School Bus Driver Certification with passenger endorsement

  • Successful completion of background screening
