Enriching the Student Experience

Bethany Christian School provides opportunities beyond the classroom that nurture creativity, expression, physical development, and a love of learning. Homeschooled students are welcome to enroll in individual classes. Please contact the main office for information regarding scheduling and tuition.

Art

Art classes give students opportunities to express creativity through a variety of media, including paint, papier-mâché, clay, and chalk. Students develop artistic skills while exploring their God-given talents.

Each year, students showcase their work in a school-wide art show, highlighting growth and achievement. BCS also participates in the Oxford Arts Alliance Student Art Show each June. Private art lessons are available during the school day for students seeking additional instruction.

Students enrolled in private art, instrumental, or vocal lessons may be invited to perform in the Annual Fine Arts Gala, an evening dedicated to celebrating student achievement in the arts.

Music

Students from Preschool through Grade 8 attend weekly music classes focused on singing, rhythm, note reading, and foundational music theory. Music instruction encourages both skill development and worship through song.

Younger students combine movement with music, while older students engage with more advanced material. Third-grade students learn recorder and perform in the Fine Arts Gala. Additional opportunities include private instrumental and vocal lessons and participation in the Middle School Choir.

Students participate in two music performances each year consisting of a Christmas concert and a spring concert. Grade-level participation varies annually.

Physical Education

Physical Education classes promote fitness, coordination, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Younger students build cooperation skills through group games and movement activities. Older students participate in organized team sports and fitness challenges.

Students are encouraged to pursue personal improvement, perseverance, and positive attitudes in all activities.

Library

Students attend Library class weekly, developing reading habits and foundational research skills. Instruction focuses on locating, evaluating, and using information effectively.

Access to a wide variety of books and educational resources fosters curiosity and supports literacy growth, helping students develop a lifelong love of reading.
