School Safety

Safety and peace of mind

Student safety is a priority here at school. Unforturately in our fallen world we have to be aware and on-guard to protect the children entrusted to our care. Every morning during announcements, we pray for a hedge of protection around the school. Please join us in this daily prayer.

Preparing our students is an important part of school safety. We hold fire drills as well as “lock down” drills and school evacuation drills to prepare our students and staff for if and when an emergency arises.

All Employees, Coaches, and Volunteers are subjected to the Pennsylvania requirements for Background Clearances, including the PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA Background Clearance, and FBI Fingerprinting. Mrs. Graul in the office manages our volunteers and can help with this process.

We have established procedures and plans should a crisis or emergency evolve. If interested, please request a copy of the BCS Crisis Preparedness Guide in the Main Office.

All children are monitored while on the playground or recess field by our Classroom Aides and at least one Teacher. There are rules for the playground to ensure the safety of our students while allowing them the freedom to run, play, chase, and shout!

In the School Building:

Every exterior door is kept locked. The Main Door is equipped with two sets of doors–one is locked with a magnetic lock system, and the other is closed to create a reception area. Visitors have to ring the bell for admittance. They are either allowed into the building from the lock release in the office or are greeted at the door and asked for identification. All visitors must sign in and wear a Visitor’s Badge while in the building.
