May Newsletter

Greetings,

I recently read that if we read our Bibles for just 15 minutes per day we can read through the entire Bible in one year. By devoting just 30 minutes, you could read through it twice per year. This may mean giving up one half-hour television program to fill your heart and mind with God’s word, not a big sacrifice when you look at the benefits!

I received a 100 day Bible reading plan for kids from CSI (Christian Schools International) and Zondervan. This plan does not cover the whole Bible, but it is a good overview (and it is not just for kids!). It is meant to begin on May 27th and run through September 3rd. Imagine, finishing the summer with the accomplishment of reading a good part of the Bible. You can find the reading plan at https://info.zondervan.com/summer-bible-reading/. Remember, the Bible is a narrative that unfolds God’s wonderful plan for His creation and it is all interconnected!

Our Fine Arts Gala and Open House was held on April 20th from 6-8pm at BCS. If you came you saw wonderful musical performances from our 3rd grade recorder class, our BCS/Sacred Heart Combined Band, and our private music lesson students (Kate Kline played a mean piano!). We gave many tours and had many new faces visiting BCS. Art students had a gallery showing (Zion Weller is a private art student) and performed live art in the hallways (Anna Kline was one of the live artisits!). It was a wonderful night celebrating BCS and God’s blessings! We had delicious refreshments provided by McCormick Orthodontics! Thank you, Drs. Chela and Davé.

The 8th grade Fundraising Dinner will be held on Wednesday, May 2. We will have two seatings, 5:00 and 6:30pm. The menu will be baked potatoes and all of the fixings (chili, cheese, butter, sour cream, bacon, broccoli, etc.), salad, and dessert. Come hungry because it is all-you-can-eat! Cost is $6 per person. All proceeds and tips go to fund the 8th grade’s trip to Washington, D.C. While in D.C., they will visit the Spy Museum and the Memorials. Please come out and support the class and help them reach their goal!

National Day of Prayer is Friday, May 4th. Our sixth grade class is organizing a Prayer Walk across the BCS campus for students and faculty. If any BPC friends would like to participate, please join us in commemorating this national event. Stop in the Main Office for a map and directions. Our world can use more prayer!

The Silent Auction Preview will be on Thursday, May 17th from 5-8pm. The Silent Auction will be open for bids and browsing and there will be a BBQ chicken dinner for sale (we have tickets on sale now for the chicken dinner! Tickets cost $8.). Please see Pam Leathers to purchase tickets to reserve your chicken!

The Official Race Day and Silent Auction is coming up on Friday, May 18th. We need some help with our local business donations. Please contact Kelly Cudicio at kcudicio@bethanychristian.org if you can help. On Race Day, the Silent Auction will be open from 9-noon, we will have a live auction for the Class Baskets, and McCormick Orthodontics will sponsor a fun Ice Cream Social after the Race Awards are over.

Did you know that BCS has Summer Camp all summer long? Camp is open to the public and will begin on Tuesday, June 12th and runs through August 24th, except July 4th week. Each week has a theme and a scripture memory verse and is jam-packed with crafts, water games, activities, and fun. Slots are filling up quickly! Summer Camp is open to BCS students and NON-BCS students from 4 years old through entering 5th grade.  Find out more information about Summer Camp on our website (www.bethanychristian.org)

Thank you for all of your prayers and support. Please pray for God’s blessing on the rest of our school year and on our Race for Education.
